The success of previous dances has led to creating a double-header daddy-daughter dance, with a second time slot being added earlier to accommodate the increased attendance. The theme was ‘Under the Sea’ and we transformed Grace Bible Church to the sea floor. With events like this, where dancing is the primary activity for a group that doesn’t normally dance as a hobby, I run games to keep people engaged. We started with a Him or Her question round that led into a slow dance, added some line dances and singalongs, then played rock/paper/scissors to determine who would do dancing imitations of various under the sea theme creatures, follow-the-leader dance edition and dance the seaweed runaway with dads waving their arms over the parade of daughters showing off their dance moves. Of course, the last slow dance made me cry just a little.
